Have you always wondered how to style & arrange cushions on your sofa?
Perhaps you've just bought a set of new cushions, and are wanting to style them in a way that best shows off your new purchase.
Cushions are the best kept secret when it comes to livening or refreshing a space in an inexpensive and easy way.
While there are a few different ways to arrange cushions, you don't have to stick to just one way of styling or arranging cushions. You can mix up the styling week to week to create a slightly different look every time and keep your decor interesting and fresh.
Here are some popular cushion arrangements that you can try to find the style that's right for you.
One of the most popular cushion arrangements is the classic 2:1:2 setting with two cushions on either side and a hero cushion in the middle. This can be either a bolster cushion or a very bright coloured cushion that ties the others together. It's a classic and elegant way to show off your cushions. Its symmetrical and great if you're a stickler for order and organisation.
Another classic pairing cushion arrangement is having cushions in sets of two in different colours on either side of the sofa. One side mirrors the other, and creates symmetry. This has been a popular go to cushion arrangements for many years, and you can't really go wrong with this option.
For when less is more, the simple arrangement of three cushions that match together in hue, texture or colour, can add a simple elegance to a space. Understated and elegant, this will leave plenty of room to sit alongside the cushions.
One of the most popular ways to arrange cushions with stylists & designers is to have a pop of colour or a hero cushion be the star of the arrangement in a colour or style that really 'pops' from your sofa.
This is where a hero cushion - usually with a brighter colour or design - sits on its own in a designated solo spot, complemented by pairs or three cushions on the opposite side of the sofa.
Unconventional and non-symmetric, this is a more daring cushion arrangement that adds an interesting focal point for your space. Most of our pre-matched Cushion Sets have been designed to fit this arrangement.
For those that cannot have too many cushions, in this arrangement cushions are paired together in twos sitting on opposite side of the sofa, with a feature cushion in the centre. This can be a bolster sized cushion or one that ties all the others together.
So many different ways to arrange cushions and it really does depend on your own style, the space you are styling and personal taste.
Best bit is you don't have to stick to just one way of styling cushions! You can mix it up week to week to create a slightly different look every time and keep your decor interesting and fresh!
Sometimes it can be stressful finding cushions that match, colours that complement and tones that don't clash.
